Since 2010 Journal of Soil Science and Plant Nutrition (ISSN 0718-9508 ) edits four issues per year on behalf the Chilean Society of Soil Science.

Journal of Soil Science and Plant Nutrition is a peer reviewed journal that publishes original research findings in all areas related to soil science. For publication it accepts original research papers, technical notes, and reviews (both voluntary and by invitation) on all aspects indicated by the Journal's title. Contributions to soil science cover physics, chemistry, biology, mineralogy, ecology, pedology, classification, amelioration. Contributions related to plant nutrition includes the mineral metabolism of plants, ecological aspects of plant nutrition, physiology of development and efficiency, organic and inorganic fertilization in relation to their impact on yields, quality of plants and ecological systems. Contributions related to soil science as quaternary geology, geomorphology, hydrology and nature conservation and environmental protection are also in the scope of the Journal. Since 2010, the Journal`s official language is English.

The abbreviated title of Journal of Soil Science and Plant Nutrition is J. Soil Sci. Plant Nutr. This abbreviation should be used in bibliographies, footnotes, references and bibliographic strips.
